Pantry Organization Tips

The end of the holiday season can have you realizing that your food storage spaces have gotten out of hand. Cleaning out your pantry can be overwhelming but getting organized can be the key to relieving stressful clutter and cutting down on food waste in your home.

Clear Out Your Space

To start, remove everything from your pantry. You may want to do this in sections if you have a large storage space. Clean your shelves and throw away any expired foods. Add any unexpired food that you know you won’t use to a food donation pile.

Categorize

While you’re sorting through your foods, organize them by like groups. Separate things into categories that make the most sense to you (ex. Snacks, pasta, sauces, etc.).

Plan Your Space

Map out where you’d like to store each category in your pantry. If needed, use Post-Its to help you visualize where everything will fit. Store heavier items closer to the ground and things you may not use as often on higher shelves.

Contain It

Containers are not a requirement, but if you’ve chosen to use bins to store your items, measure and shop for your preferred style. Acrylic bins can be useful in seeing all the items you have in one glance, while solid-colored bins are helpful to provide a neater look. Lazy Susans can be a great hack for tricky, hard-to-reach corners.

Restock & Maintain

Create a shopping list of items that are either low in stock or were expired and need to be replaced. Shop for your groceries and easily store them away in their designated area.

Taking over a large organization project can seem overwhelming, but by following these simple steps, you’ll be able to tackle it with ease. With just a little time and effort, your pantry can be the food storage space of your dreams!
